Individual Therapy for Adults in St. Louis, MO

Sometimes the safest place to fall apart is with someone who’s there just for you.

Individual therapy offers a space to explore the relationship patterns shaping your life, even when you’re coming on your own.

Many of the struggles people bring to individual therapy show up in their relationships. You might feel stuck in familiar patterns, struggle to set boundaries, find yourself putting others’ needs ahead of your own, or feel uncertain about the future of an important relationship. Perhaps you’re navigating dating, questioning whether to stay in a relationship, coping with a breakup or divorce, or trying to understand why certain relationship challenges keep repeating.

Individual therapy provides a space to explore how your past experiences, attachment patterns, and emotional responses influence the way you connect with others. Together, we’ll work toward greater self-understanding, healthier boundaries, and more fulfilling relationships.

Understand Your Relationship Patterns and Build Healthier Connections

Together, we make sense of how your personality, attachment history, and life experiences influence the ways you connect, protect yourself, and respond to others. From there, therapy becomes a place to practice new ways of relating that are healthier and more fulfilling.

Sessions often involve processing unhealed experiences, challenging long-held beliefs about yourself or relationships, and building the capacity to stay present and engaged even when things feel difficult.

What to Expect in Individual Therapy

Individual therapy sessions are approximately 50–55 minutes and provide a collaborative space to explore the relationship challenges that matter most to you. Together, we’ll look at recurring patterns, emotional responses, past experiences, and the ways you connect with others.

Some sessions may focus on understanding what is happening in your current relationships, while others may involve exploring earlier experiences that continue to influence how you relate to others today. When helpful, we may also incorporate mindfulness and nervous system regulation techniques to support you in navigating difficult emotions and relationship experiences.

We typically meet weekly or every other week, depending on your needs and goals. As you make progress, we may collaboratively decide to reduce the frequency of sessions. Generally, I recommend meeting at least once per month to maintain continuity and support meaningful progress.

I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which may be incorporated when appropriate to help process past experiences that continue to affect your relationships. EMDR is one of several tools I may use, rather than the primary focus of our work together.

Individual Therapy Fee: $150 per 50–55-minute session.

Insurance: I am in-network with Aetna and UnitedHealthcare (UHC) for individual therapy. Coverage and out-of-pocket costs depend on your specific insurance plan.
